Kathmandu: The UAE has defeated Nepal in the ongoing ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier played in the home ground today. Nepal’s team was unable to chase the target set by the UAE, resulting in a 13-run loss.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Nepal was tasked with chasing 123 runs but was restricted to 109 runs, losing 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a commendable effort by Nepal’s captain, Puja Mahato, who scored the highest with 48 runs, the team fell short. Contributions from Sana Pravin and Soni Pakhrin, who made 19 runs each, were notable, while Jyotsnika Marasini added 11 runs, Sabitra Dhami 7, and Alisha Kumari Yadav 3 runs, but it was not enough to secure a victory.
Nepal’s next match is scheduled against Thailand on Sunday. Among the four participating teams, the one that emerges at the top will qualify for the World Cup to be held in Malaysia next year.
