Kathmandu: The stakeholders and officials have forged a consensus to ensure accessibility of the plane ticket and maintain a reasonable fare for the ticket. Such a deal was signed on Saturday between the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and stakeholders.
According to National News Agency Nepal, this decision comes in response to complaints about the exorbitant price of air tickets following the planned 10-hour daily closure of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for the next five months starting November 8. The closure is expected to impact flight schedules and ticket availability significantly.
The discussions were attended by officials from the CAAN, ministry representatives, and agents from both domestic and international airline companies. During the meeting, it was decided that the ticket booking agent (TBA) rights, previously granted to travel agencies by the airline companies to sell tickets in bulk, would be revoked. All airline companies are now required to comply with this new regula
tion.
Additionally, airline operators are mandated to set and disclose airfare amounts according to the flight circle, ensuring transparency and fairness in ticket pricing.
