Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress (NC) reported significant damages to its Central Office and 48 district committee offices following the Gen-Z protests on September 8 and 9. The protests have left a trail of destruction affecting both party infrastructure and private residences associated with NC leaders.
According to National News Agency Nepal, a press statement issued by the NC detailed the extent of the damage. It stated that 95 private houses belonging to party leaders, including those of party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, vice-president, general secretary, assistant general secretary, central committee members, and province presidents, were targeted. These properties were reportedly burnt, vandalized, and looted during the protests.
Chief of Publicity Department, Min Bishwakarma, revealed that the NC’s central office was set ablaze, resulting in the complete loss of property valued at nearly Rs 100 million. The destruction has left the party reeling as it assesses the full impact of the protests.
In light of these events, the NC expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and extended wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured. The party has called for a thorough investigation into the incidents and demanded that those responsible be held accountable.
