Lalitpur: The Nepali Congress Central Working Committee is convening today at the party’s central office, BP Smriti Bhawan, Lalitpur.
According to National News Agency Nepal, today’s meeting is focused on discussions regarding the party’s upcoming 15th General Convention. This comes as the term of the current Central Working Committee, led by President Sher Bahadur Deuba, is set to conclude by mid-December. In light of this impending deadline, some party leaders have initiated a signature campaign advocating for a special general convention.
Reports indicate that 54 percent of the general convention delegates have signed the petition in favor of holding a special general convention. This development underscores the significance and urgency of the discussions taking place in today’s meeting.
Earlier, beginning on October 14, the CWC meetings have been chaired by Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, who was given the role of acting president by Sher Bahadur Deuba due to health concerns. President Deuba, alo
ng with his wife Arzu Rana Deuba, is currently in Singapore for medical treatment.
