Mustang: More than 40,000 domestic and international tourists have visited Mustang in the first 10 days of the month of Kartik.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the District Police Office in Mustang reported that 37,146 domestic tourists and 3,732 foreigners arrived in the Mustang district via the Beni-Jomsom road section between October 18 and October 27.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Mustang, Tshiring Kippa Lama, noted that a total of 11,808 vehicles entered the district during this period through the Beni-Jomsom route. Some tourists who arrived in the district to pay homage to the Muktinath temple on October 27 faced challenges due to snowfall that occurred on the same night.
The police stated that tourists in the area were affected following the rainfall and snowfall that began on Monday night. Heavy snow on the trails along the Kagbeni to Muktinath temple road section posed difficulties for tourists and devotees, as confirmed by Rabin Subedi, an official of the Muktinath Mandir Dev
elopment Committee.
Subedi further explained that the Muktinath Snankunda (pond) and 108 taps have frozen due to the significant drop in temperature.
