Kathmandu: A meeting of senior leaders of the ruling Nepali Congress held a discussion on the election of the HoR State Affairs Committee chair. The meeting took place at the private residence of party president and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the discussion focused on identifying a possible candidate for the post of the State Affairs Committee chair. This need arose after the previous chair, Ramhari Khatiwada, resigned due to the ‘cooling off period’ controversy linked to the new Civil Service Bill. Party leaders, including Vice President Dhanraj Gurung, deliberated on who would represent the party in this significant role.
The talks also covered the upcoming by-election in Rupandehi Constituency No. 3, which is set to take place in late October. The leaders are expected to reconvene tomorrow morning to finalize decisions on both the chair election and the by-election.
