NC President Calls for Additional Support to Coalition Government

Bhairahawa: President of the Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the incumbent coalition government is advancing ahead on a consolidated ground. In his address to a training and orientation organised for the party’s regional leaders in Bhairahawa today, Deuba claimed that the formation of a coalition government comprising two major and other political parties in the country has given hope among the citizens.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Deuba stated that the incumbent NC-CPN (UML) government is not an absolute majority government; it is a two-thirds government. He emphasized the need for additional collective support for the government. Deuba highlighted that political competition is essential in democracy, and any intra-party misunderstandings within the NC should be resolved through mutual discussions.

The orientation, as Deuba mentioned, is expected to help garner a majority for the party in the upcoming elections. The training is organized by the NC Central Policy, Research and Training Academy and is being attended by 130 individuals, including regional presidents and chiefs of regional training sections, as stated by Academy coordinator Purna Bahadur Khadka.

The event will feature six presentations on various topics concerning the party, such as its significant accomplishments, policy reforms ensured during its presence in the government after 1990, the constitution, implementation of federalism, and the NC campaign for active membership. It will also cover interrelations among the center, provinces, and electoral constituencies.

On the second day, discussions will be conducted among seven panels. The following session will focus on collecting submissions on issues related to the government. Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak are scheduled to respond to the concerns raised during the session. The event is supported by the NC regional committee, Rupandehi electoral constituency-3.
