One Killed, One Injured in Road Accident on East-West Highway


Manahari: A person died while another person was injured in a road accident that took place in Manahari of Makawanpur along the East-West Highway today. The accident occurred when a motorcycle (Na. 16 Pa. 3181) heading towards Hetauda was hit by a truck (Na. 6 Kha. 4055) traveling in the same direction at the Manahari Bridge.



According to National News Agency Nepal, pillion rider Neem Bahadur Thapa, 56, from Pithuwa, Ratnanagar-16, Chitwan, died in the accident. Thapa suffered serious head injuries and succumbed to them during treatment at Manahari Hospital. The motorcycle driver, Ramji Gautam, 55, also from the same area, sustained injuries and has been referred to Chitwan for further treatment.



The police have detained the truck and its driver to take necessary action. Meanwhile, the relatives of the deceased blocked the East-West Highway in front of the District Police Office, Makawanpur, for about an hour. They demanded appropriate compensation and action against those responsible for the incident. Traffic resumed after assurances were given to address their demands, as stated by District Police Office Spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyam Aryal.
