Krishnapur: Arjun Saud, the ward chair of Krishnapur municipality-2, has taken the unprecedented step of operating the ward office from the roadside to demand the blacktopping of the Bunk-Nile-Budar road. By setting up a table at the road’s entry point, Saud has been delivering public services from this unconventional location since Sunday, aiming to exert pressure on the contractors and the Infrastructure Development Office to expedite the road work.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Saud has vowed to continue providing services from the roadside until the blacktopping is completed. He expressed frustration over the lack of progress despite the contract for the road work being signed long ago. The community has resorted to displaying black banners and staging street protests to amplify their demand for road improvements.
Local resident Ramnath highlighted the challenges faced by pedestrians due to the dusty conditions of the unpaved road. Yogendra Adhikari, chief of the Infrastructure Development Office in Kanchanpur, acknowledged the situation and stated that contractors have been assigned to the project. “The contractors will not do the work as soon as possible,” Adhikari noted, but assured that they have issued a letter urging the commencement of work within a week.
