Kathmandu: The Nepal Communist Party has issued a call to the government to demonetise all Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 banknotes. This decision was shared as part of a 17-point resolution from the recent central committee meeting led by Biplab.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the party’s call for demonetisation is aimed at curbing corruption within the country. In addition to this, they have demanded the printing of new banknotes to replace the demonetised currency. The resolution also includes plans to initiate an industry under an integrated ownership model focused on boosting agricultural production.
The party has historically emphasized the importance of agricultural productivity and is hopeful for improved yields from this season’s monsoon crops. Additionally, discussions are underway between the Nepal Communist Party, the CPN (Maoist Centre), and other communist groups to create a new communist centre in response to the recent Gen-Z protests.
The party’s general secretary, Biplab, stated at a news conference in Kathmandu that the communist movement must evolve beyond traditional methods. Consequently, discussions with the Maoist Centre have been initiated to address the need for fresh debates and strategies. The party believes that the unification of communist forces and the establishment of a new communist centre have become increasingly necessary in the wake of the Gen-Z protests.
