Kathmandu: Nepal exported 1,015 megawatts of electricity on Monday, coinciding with the celebration of Laxmi Pooja during the Tihar festival.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) reported that the total demand for power reached 1,650 megawatts on Monday evening. This marked an increase in demand compared to the previous year when the highest demand during Laxmi Pooja evening was 1,602 megawatts. This year saw a rise of 48 megawatts in comparison to last year.
Currently, Nepal is utilizing its surplus energy to supply the Indian and Bangladeshi markets, thereby strengthening its position in the regional energy market.
