Kathmandu: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba has underscored the enduring and robust ties between Nepal and the United States, characterizing the relationship as one grounded in trust, respect, and shared values. At a ceremony held today for the handover of two Skytrucks from the United States to the Nepali Army, she highlighted the assistance as emblematic of the ongoing friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dr Rana articulated that Nepal’s friendship with the US is driven by the aims of peace, stability, and human service. She acknowledged the United States as a development partner and a steadfast ally of Nepal, aiding in the enhancement of democratic governance, provision of humanitarian assistance, disaster management, peacekeeping, and capacity building.
Expressing her appreciation, Dr Rana thanked the US government and its citizens for their continuous support. Furthermore, she commended the Nepali Army for its dedication, discipline, and unwavering commitment to nationhood, global peace, and security.
During the ceremony, US Ambassador Dean R Thompson officially handed over the two Skytrucks to Dr Rana, Defence Minister Manbir Rai, and Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel. The Skytrucks are slated for use in disaster relief, rescue operations, and air ambulance services.
