Nepali Embassy in Oman Conducts Training on Social Security Services.

Muscat: The Embassy of Nepal in Muscat has successfully organized a Trainer’s Training Programme aimed at enhancing Social Security Enrolment and Regularization Services, along with Passport and Consular Services at Nepal House. This initiative is designed to educate and empower Nepali workers residing in Oman.

According to National News Agency Nepal, during the event held on Monday, Ambassador Aryal provided an in-depth explanation about the Social Security Fund (SSF), initiatives by the Government of Nepal, and the significance of the SSF. Ambassador Aryal underscored the importance of the Trainer’s Training in educating Nepali workers in Oman, enabling them to assist fellow Nepalis in the enrolment and regularization processes of social security. Queries from participants were addressed by Mr. Bibek Panthee, Deputy Executive Director of SSF, as stated in a press release by the Embassy of Nepal, Muscat.

Ms. Radhika Niraula, Assistant Director, and Mr. Rajesh Chapagain, IT Officer, imparted training and sh
ared information on SSF with participants. Meanwhile, Mr. Bishesh Kumar Sah, Second Secretary, elaborated on Passport and Consular Services and demonstrated the passport application process. Ambassador Aryal concluded the event by presenting training certificates to the participants.

The Embassy took the initiative to organize the first-ever camp focusing on social security enrolment, regularization services, and Consular and Labour Awareness on November 29, 2024. A similar SSF and Labour Awareness programme was conducted in Sohar, Oman, on November 30, 2024. Both events saw enthusiastic participation from the Nepali community in Oman, who expressed their appreciation and urged the Embassy to continue such services and enable work permit provisions.

The Embassy identified a lack of awareness among Nepali workers regarding the Social Security scheme and its importance. While many Nepali workers enroll in the SSF during the Labour Approval process in Nepal, they often do not continue with the scheme. To addre
ss this, the Embassy, with support from the SSF team, organized these events to educate workers, facilitate enrolment for those who missed out, and regularize workers within the system.

A dedicated three-member team from SSF, including Mr. Bibek Panthee, Ms. Radhika Niraula, and Mr. Rajesh Chapagain, is visiting Oman to execute these initiatives.
