New york: Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Lok Bahadur Thapa, is representing the government in the 80th UN General Assembly, New York.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Permanent Representative Thapa is attending the UNGA due to the impossibility of a high-level delegation from the government of Nepal, owing to an adverse situation in the country. The panel discussion of the 80th UNGA commenced at the UN Headquarters in New York on September 23.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reached out to Nepali Ambassadors in concerned countries to obtain official information about the cessation of visit visa issuance for Nepalis, in light of the unfolding situation in Nepal. Ministry Spokesperson Lok Bahadur Poudel Chhetri noted that a discussion was held with concerned officials on how to systematize the issuance of visit visas, addressing questions raised about Nepalis traveling to various countries on visit visas.
