Beni: A new hot water pond has been constructed and opened for public use at Singa Tatopani Kunda, located in Beni municipality-4.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Tatopani Kunda Management Committee developed the pond on public land near the upper Tatopani bazaar, driven by the increasing number of visitors seeking the therapeutic benefits of the hot water bath. Committee Secretary Amar Bahadur KC explained that the hot water is sourced from the Myagdi River bank and pumped into the newly constructed facility.
KC further elaborated that the construction expenses for the pond were covered by the entry fees collected from the visitors. The pond’s capacity allows 80 individuals to bathe simultaneously in its 15-feet long, 15-feet wide, and 2.5 feet deep structure.
Krishna Khadka, Chairperson of the Committee, highlighted the local belief in the healing properties of the hot water, which is thought to alleviate various health issues such as skin conditions, gastric problems, and rheumatoid arthritis. In the fiscal year 2080/81, the pond attracted 44,000 visitors from 59 districts in Nepal, as well as from countries like India, Russia, France, and Japan.
The facility offers different packages for visitors, with a seven to ten-day bathing option available for Rs 350, and a single-time bath costing Rs 100 per person. There are now two separate ponds to accommodate both patients and general visitors, enhancing the overall experience for all.
