Kathmandu: The National Information Commission (NIC) has presented its annual report for the fiscal year 2080/81 to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Chief Information Commissioner, Mahendra Man Gurung, personally handed over the report to the Prime Minister at his residence in Baluwatar. The report is set to be laid before the federal parliament through the Prime Minister at a later date.
According to National News Agency Nepal, during the presentation ceremony, PM Oli also released a ‘collection of important orders’ issued during the current office bearers’ five-year tenure at the NIC. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government and the NIC to ensure the dissemination of necessary information to relevant stakeholders. PM Oli further stressed that while functioning under democratic principles, it is crucial to prevent any form of anarchy.
Chief Commissioner Gurung shared that during his five-year term, the NIC received a total of 5,182 appeals, of which an impressive 95% have been res
olved. The tenure of Gurung, along with Information Commissioners Kamala Oli Thapa and Ratna Prasad Mainali, is set to conclude on December 8.
