‘No alternative to using modern technologies for Smart Bangladesh’

There is no alternative to using modern

technologies and producing smart citizens with better human values and morals

for building a ‘Smart Bangladesh’ as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh

Hasina.

The observation came today in a views-exchange meeting titled ‘Our Role in

Facing Challenges of Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) in Building a Smart

Bangladesh’ held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in the

city.

The district administration and District Information Office jointly organised

the event participated by officials of the district, police and upazila

administrations, government departments, public representatives, civil

society members and journalists.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Chitralekha Nazneen presided over the event.

Deputy Director (Local Government) Zilufa Sultana, Additional Deputy

Commissioner (General) AWM Raihan Shah, representatives of the District and

Rangpur Metropolitan Police, Civil Surgeon Dr Jahangir Kabir, among others,

addressed.

Senior District Information Officer Md. Atikur Rahman Shah delivered a

welcome speech narrating the goals and objectives of the event, different

aspects of the vision Smart Bangladesh and different ongoing activities

towards the directions.

Assistant Commissioner of the district administration Mulatamis Billah

delivered the keynote presentation titled ‘Smart Bangladesh’ and discussed

its four pillars– Smart Citizen, Smart Society, Smart Economy and Smart

Government.

The participants took part in the open discussion, identified various

challenges for implementation of the 4IR and forwarded suggestions to

overcome those in building a Smart Bangladesh on the way to build a developed

Bangladesh by 2041.

They called for ensuring proper utilization of computers provided to the

‘Sheikh Russel Digital Labs’, primary, secondary and higher secondary level

educational institutions to turn students into smart citizens to build a

‘Smart Bangladesh’.

The Deputy Commissioner said the Digital Bangladesh envisioned by Prime

Minister Sheikh Hasina has already been implemented benefiting every citizen

and time has come to build a Smart Bangladesh with expanded use of modern

technologies everywhere.

Building a Smart Bangladesh has already started with launching a time-

befitting education system to turn young generation into smart citizens and

skilled human resources to face the challenges of 4IR.

“Producing smart citizens with proper education, social and ethical values

are a prerequisite to put into practice the other three pillars– Smart

Society, Smart Economy and Smart Government– for building a Smart

Bangladesh,” she said.
