Kathmandu: The Nepal Telecommunication Authority has issued a directive to mobile and internet service providers to deactivate 26 unlisted social media platforms in the country.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the NTA has communicated this directive through a circular to all service providers. The directive targets a range of social media platforms, including Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp, Twitter (X), LinkedIn, Snapchat, and WeChat, among others.
Following the NTA’s directive, both the government-owned Nepal Telecommunication Company (Nepal Telecom) and private mobile service provider Ncell have confirmed the shutdown of the unlisted social media platforms.
