Gazipur: Home Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today reiterated that the nationwide ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ carried by joint forces will continue as long as the devils exist. “As long as the devils exist, the ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ will continue,” he said replying to a question after coming out of the 45th National Assembly of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP at Ansar-VDP Academy at Safipur here.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, when asked about the seizure of illegal firearms during the operation, Jahangir acknowledged that the seizure of firearms is not up-to-the-mark of expectation, but he assured that it will increase in the days ahead. “It’s not quite as much as you expected. But, the seizure will increase slowly,” he stated.
Regarding the implementation of the demands of the Ansar, Jahangir noted that the government is considering their logical demands with utmost importance. He expressed gratitude for the contribution of the Ansar after the August 5 changeover in maintaining the country’s law and order, emphasizing that, “All should thank the Ansar for their role.” He highlighted the significant role the Ansar and VDP play in nation-building and supporting law and order across the country.
Earlier in the morning, Jahangir addressed the 45th National Assembly of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP at Ansar-VDP Academy, Safipur, Gazipur as the chief guest. During the event, he presented medals to 18 officers, employees, and other ranks of the Ansar and VDP in recognition of their commendable works. In total, 156 people, including officers and employees of the force, received medals in service and bravery categories.
Following the assembly, Jahangir engaged in several activities, including planting trees on the Ansar Academy premises, participating in a photo session, and visiting the cottage industry exhibition. Senior Home Secretary Nasimul Ghani attended the function as the special guest, while Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Director General (DG) Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud presided over the function.
