Parliament secretariat director Labanya Ahmed passes away

DHAKA, – Director of Public Relation Department of

Parliament Secretariat Labanya Ahmed passed away at 1.30pm today (Wednesday)

at Tata Medical Centre in Kolkata.

She was 58, an official release said.

Labanya Ahmed breathed her last while undergoing treatment at Tata Medical

Centre in Kolkata. She had been suffering from blood cancer since 2018.

She is survived by three sons and a host of relatives and admirers.

Labanya Ahmed performed her duties as a public relation officer with utmost

sincerity and highest professional excellence. She earned love, affection and

respects at her professional arena for her honesty, well-behavior and helping

mindset.

The Parliament Secretariat Director completed her master’s degree in Mass

Communication and Journalism Department of Dhaka University. She joined as

assistant director in public relation department of Parliament Secretariat in

1966.

Labanya Ahmed is niece of Shaheed Shahidullah Kaiser and Shaheed Zahir

Raihan. Her father Nasir Ahmed is an organizer and weapon trainer of the

Liberation War and the plaintiff in the intellectual murder case filed in

1972. Her mother Shahensha Begum is a dedicated member of the Ghatak-Dalal

Nirmul Committee.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury expressed deep shock at the death of

Parliament secretariat director Labanya Ahmed.

She prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound

sympathy to the bereaved family.
