Kathmandu: The House of Representatives, initially scheduled to meet at 11:00 am today, has been postponed to 11:00 am tomorrow. This decision follows a meeting convened by Speaker Devraj Ghimire with the whips of major political parties. Despite discussions, no conclusion was reached, leading to the adjournment, as stated by Padma Prasad Pandey, General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat.
According to National News Agency Nepal, opposition parties, including the CPN (Maoist Centre), the Rastriya Swatantra Party, and the CPN (Unified Socialist), have demanded that the Prime Minister address the house regarding the dismissal of Kulman Ghising from the position of Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority.
The National Assembly meeting, initially set for today, began at 12:15 pm but faced immediate obstruction from opposition lawmakers, prompting Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal to adjourn it for an hour. Despite a notice from the Federal Parliament Secretariat to reconvene at 3:30 pm, the meeting was adjourned due to special reasons. The next session of the National Assembly is scheduled for Friday at 1:15 pm, as confirmed by Pandey.
