KATHMANDU: Pokhara Avengers secured a dramatic 13-run victory against Biratnagar Kings in a super over during the Nepal Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The match, which marked the first super over in the tournament so far, saw Pokhara emerge victorious after a tense showdown.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Biratnagar set a target of 140 runs, which Pokhara matched, scoring 139 runs in their allotted 20 overs with six wickets down, leading to the super over. Pokhara batted first in the super over, with Biratnagar’s captain Sandeep Lamichhane taking the bowling. Raymon Reifer of Pokhara hit two sixes and a four, helping set a challenging target of 19 runs for Biratnagar.
In response, Biratnagar’s Martin Guptill and Nicholas Kirton took to the crease with Reifer bowling for Pokhara. Despite their efforts, they managed only six runs in the super over, securing a 13-run win for Pokhara. Before the super over, Andries Gous made the highest contribution for Pok
hara with 39 runs, followed by Reifer with 34 runs, and captain Kushal Bhurtel with 31 runs. Pratish GC claimed four wickets for Biratnagar, while Chris Sole took two.
Earlier, Biratnagar, having won the toss, posted 139 runs in their 20 overs, losing seven wickets. Scott Edwards top-scored for Biratnagar with 45 runs, supported by Lokesh Bam with 26 runs and Bashir Ahamed with 21. Sagar Dhakal and Reifer each secured two wickets for Pokhara, with Bhurtel and Dinesh Kharel taking one wicket apiece. The second match of the day will feature Kathmandu Gurkhas against Janakpur Bolts.
