Bhola: Shipping and Textiles and Jute Adviser Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain announced that the police and Bangladesh Coast Guard will collaborate to prevent extortion. He emphasized the need for joint efforts to enhance security at river terminals and along river routes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sakhawat Hossain is currently on a two-day official visit to Bhola to identify a suitable location for the establishment of a modern launch terminal and jetty with financing from the World Bank. During his visit, he assured continued dredging activities to keep Bhola’s river routes operational and mentioned plans for launching the Bhola-Monpura ferry service at an appropriate site.
The announcement was made in the presence of several officials, including the Chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Commodore Arif Ahmed Mustafa, Deputy Commissioner Md Azad Jahan, Police Superintendent Shariful Haque, and UNO of Daulatkhan Niyati Rani Koiri. On the first day of his visit, Sakhawat Hossain toured various river jetties in the Daulatkhan, Tajumuddin, and Monpura upazilas.
