Kathmandu:Electricity supply in the Kathmandu Valley is anticipated to be disrupted over the weekend due to ongoing upgrades to the Matatirtha-Syuchatar 132-kV transmission line.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the upgrades involve replacing old wires and conductors with new, high-capacity cables to ensure a more reliable and sustainable power supply. This work is part of the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Project Management Directorate efforts.
The transmission line work requires a shutdown from 900 am to 500 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. The replacement involves nearly 400 meters of conductor on one circuit of the double-circuit line, with the new conductors being HTLS types, which can carry higher power loads.
Once the new wires are installed, the power system is expected to be more reliable. During the upgrade, areas served by the Matatirtha and Syuchatar substations will experience power disruptions.
