President Paudel Expresses Condolences Over Death of Former US President Carter


KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel has conveyed his condolences following the death of Jimmy Carter, the former President of the United States. Carter, who was the 39th President, passed away at the age of 100 in Plains, Georgia, where he had been receiving hospice care.



According to National News Agency Nepal, President Paudel took to social platform X to express his sorrow over Carter’s passing. In his message, he highlighted Carter’s significant contributions to peace, human rights, and charitable work, which have served as a global inspiration. President Paudel extended his condolences to the Carter family and the American people during this time of mourning.



Carter’s death marks the end of a life dedicated to public service and philanthropy. Known for his diplomatic efforts, even into his 80s, Carter became an emblem of humanitarian work, notably building homes for the underprivileged well into his 90s. His legacy is further remembered in Nepal, where he visited in 2008 to observe the historic Constituent Assembly elections, underscoring his commitment to democratic principles.



Carter’s wife, Rosalyn, preceded him in death in November 2023 at the age of 96, leaving behind a legacy of shared dedication to humanitarian causes. The couple’s lifelong partnership in service and advocacy remains a testament to their enduring impact on both domestic and international fronts.
