Singhadurbar:Prime Minister Balendra Shah has urged lawmakers with engineering backgrounds to leverage their technical expertise for the country’s development. During a discussion at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Shah emphasized the importance of focusing on long-term policies and innovative ideas rather than political matters. He encouraged these lawmakers to use their knowledge and skills to formulate national policies, highlighting the significance of their technical proficiency alongside party politics.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal revealed that legal amendments are in progress to create a business-friendly environment. Lamsal mentioned the government’s efforts to support the private sector, particularly in waste management, and plans to remove customs duties on vehicles transporting industrial raw materials.
MP Sagar Dhakal advocated for continuous work on infrastructure projects and highlighted the potential of coffee farming in Nepal. He urged for legal amendments to boost coffee production and exports. Meanwhile, MP Ashish Gajurel suggested transitioning public transportation to a Public-Private Partnership model and emphasized the need for smart transportation systems.
MP Shriram Neupane stressed the importance of conducting construction work round-the-clock to increase capital expenditure. MP Dharmaraj KC called for climate change legislation, while Dr. Ram Lama suggested increasing engineers’ salaries to prevent brain drain. MP Tapeshwar Yadav praised the government’s plan to establish an engineering college in the Tarai region.
Other lawmakers, including Jagadish Kharel, Ujwal Kumar Jha, Arvind Shah, and Sushil Khadka, also shared their perspectives on various contemporary issues.
