Hetauda: The Road Division Office in Hetauda has temporarily ceased the expansion of the main road following an order from the Supreme Court. This decision was enacted after the office received the court’s directive on Sunday.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Road Division Office has acknowledged the Supreme Court’s order, resulting in a suspension of the ongoing road expansion activities. Guru Prasad Adhikari, Chief of the Road Division Office, confirmed that the use of heavy machinery, specifically dozers, for the road expansion has been paused.
The office had previously issued a public notice last Friday, instructing the removal of both permanent and temporary structures located within 25 yards from the center of the road. This order affected areas from Ratmate to Buddha Chowk to Rapti Khola Bridge on the East-West Highway and from Buddha Chowk to Samari Bridge on the Tribhuvan Highway, with a removal deadline set for 15 days.
However, on Saturday, the Road Division Office proceeded with the demolition of over 500 houses and structures along the designated road boundaries from Ratmate to Buddha Chowk to Rapti Bridge, utilizing dozers for the task.
The Supreme Court’s order came in response to a writ petition filed by Bindabasini Kansakar, challenging the notice regarding the demolition of structures within the road boundary.
