Comilla: Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam today criticized the Indian media, accusing them of disseminating fake stories regarding the Bangladesh July uprising. He stated that each documentary produced about the uprising serves as a counter to these alleged falsehoods.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alam expressed these views after attending a screening of a documentary on the July movement at Comilla University’s conference room. The event was organized by the Comilla University Journalists’ Association in celebration of its 11th founding anniversary.
Alam highlighted the importance of these documentaries in showcasing the involvement of people from marginalized regions in the uprising. He also emphasized the significant role played by young women, noting their leadership in educational institutions during the movement. “Although there were fewer girls in the 1990s movement, women were at the frontline of the July movement,” he remarked.
The event featured Comilla University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Haider Ali as the chief guest. Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Masuda Kamal and Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Solaiman participated as special guests. Additionally, Tasneem Khalil, Editor-in-Chief of Netra News, contributed as a special discussant, with Comilla University Journalists’ Association President Zubair Rahman presiding over the session.
