Shahjalal Islami Bank Begins Open Cheque Disbursement Among Marginal Farmers in Rangpur


Rangpur: Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC has provided agricultural investments among marginal farmers in four districts of the Rangpur region.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the bank provided the investments in collaboration with Sheba AgroTech and Seed Limited for crop cultivation in the 2024-25 fiscal years. This initiative aligns with the Agricultural and Rural Credit Policy of Bangladesh Bank, aiming to boost GDP growth by increasing agricultural production in the country, as stated in a press release from Shahjalal Islami Bank.



Md Rafiqul Islam, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, Rangpur office, handed over the investment cheque to the recipients as the chief guest at an event organized at the 4th Bhangni Union Parishad Complex at Mithapukur in Rangpur. The event took place on February 10, as mentioned in the release.



Md Abdur Rahim, Head of SME and Agricultural Investment Department of the Bank, presided over the event, while Md Rafiqul Islam, Unit In-Charge of SME and Agricultural Investment, conducted it. At the event, cheques worth Taka 65.05 lakh were distributed among 52 farmers from the four districts in the Rangpur region.



Director of Bangladesh Bank, Rangpur Office Md Obaid Ullah Chowdhury, Additional Director Miratur Rahman Chowdhury, Chairman of 4th Bhangni Union Parishad Md Abdullah Al Mamun, Managing Director of Sheba AgroTech and Seed Limited Kazi Borhan Amin, and the managers of four branches of the Bank from the region were present along with officials from both organizations.
