Kathmandu: Rojina Shrestha, who was elected Chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)’s ward no 16, took oath of office and secrecy. KMC Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) administered the oath of office and secrecy to Shrestha amid a programme held at KMC’s office today.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Shrestha, a candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, secured victory in the December 1 by-election by obtaining 2,902 votes. The ward no 16 comprises market places such as Thamel and Naya Bazar, as well as the Balaju Industrial Area, and has a total of 21,025 registered voters. Among the total ballots cast in the recent by-election, 10,373 votes were valid.
Present at the oath-taking ceremony were KMC’s Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol, KMC’s Spokesperson Nabin Manandhar, and Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain, among others.
