Supplies of Meat, Alcohol Restricted in Janakpurdham in View of Bibaha Panchami Festival.


Janakpurdham: The supplies of meat products and alcohol have been prohibited in the Janakpurdham area beginning midnight today in view of the Sitaram Bibaha Panchami festival. The District Administration Office, Dhanusha issued a notice, banning the supplies of meat, fish, and liquor until the next three days. The order shall come into force until the midnight of December 7.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Bibaha Panchami festival is concluding on December 7. The week-long Bibaha Panchami festival commemorates the union of Princess Sita and Lord Ram in Treta Yug (Vedic era) and is celebrated with gaiety and religious fervor in Janakpur.

The Madhesh Province government has announced a public holiday in the Province on December 8 on the occasion of the Gadhimai festival, which is observed every five years in the Gadhimai temple in Bara.
