Teej Festival Fosters Goodwill Among Communities


Kathmandu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka highlighted the role of the Teej festival in fostering goodwill during a celebration program organized by the Sakhuwasabha-Kathmandu Journalists Association. Minister Khadka noted that while Teej was traditionally observed by Hindu women, it is increasingly becoming a celebration embraced by the wider community.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Khadka also praised the contributions of journalists from the Sankhuwasabha district who work in Kathmandu, emphasizing their role in promoting religious and cultural development in the region.



CPN (UML) leader Rajendra Gautam also addressed the event, underscoring the festival’s significance in empowering women. He shared concerns about the increasing commercialization of Teej in recent years. Leaders from various political parties, along with the Association’s Chairperson Shankar Khanal, also shared their perspectives on the festival’s impact.
