Dhaka: Bangladesh national cricket team will prepare for the Champions Trophy with a practice game against Pakistan A, the team management informed. The match is scheduled to take place in Dubai on February 17.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh will depart for the Champions Trophy journey in the early hours of February 14. The team’s best performance in an ICC tournament to date was reaching the semifinals of the last Champions Trophy held in England in 2017. This time, the team is determined to surpass that achievement.
The captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, emphasized the team’s aspirations, stating that their primary objective is to win the championship. “We are aiming to become champions in the tournament,” Shanto expressed during the team’s pre-tournament conference. He highlighted that all eight participating teams have the potential to claim the title and underscored the quality and capability of the Bangladesh team to achieve their set goal.
Bangladesh will kick off the tournament by playing against India in Dubai on February 20. Subsequently, they will face New Zealand and the host nation Pakistan on February 24 and 27, respectively, in Rawalpindi.
