Koshi: The Koshi Province Government has ramped up its efforts to celebrate Tourism Year 2082 BS, focusing on the development and promotion of tourism across the region. With the advent of the tourism year, there has been a noticeable increase in tourism-related activities within the districts of Koshi Province, resulting in a rise in the number of visitors.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the province government has set an ambitious target to welcome 1.5 million tourists, both domestic and international, over the course of the year. The heightened tourism activities have generated excitement among hoteliers and tourism entrepreneurs, who anticipate a significant boost in business.
Members of the business community are optimistic that the Tourism Year will serve as a catalyst for reviving the tourism industry, potentially restoring it to the levels seen before the Covid-19 pandemic. Tumraj Limbu, Chairman of the Hotel Association of Bhedetar, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are extremely pleased. The Tourism Year will revitalize the hotel business.”
The Koshi Province is particularly popular among Indian visitors, who constitute the largest group of international tourists. Indian national Kamlesh Sharma, visiting Kanyam in Ilam, shared his experience, saying, “I truly enjoyed Nepal. It is more beautiful than that I heard.” He mentioned plans to extend his stay for a week.
To accommodate the influx of tourists, districts within Koshi Province have made arrangements for both hotels and home stays, ensuring better accommodation options for visitors.
