Dhaka: A two-day Zakat Fair-2025 is scheduled to begin in the city on Saturday, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of zakat as one of the foundational pillars of Islam. The event is set to take place at the Aloki Convention Centre, marking its 13th iteration.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Centre for Zakat Management (CZM), which is organizing the event, announced the details at a press conference held at the Dhaka Reporters Unity. The fair seeks to foster interactions among stakeholders to ensure the optimal utilization of zakat funds.
Present at the press conference were Dr. Mohammad Abdul Majid, the convener of the Fair Organizing Committee, Munawar Misbah Moin, the convener of the CZM Executive Council and Group Director of Rahimafrooz Group, and CZM CEO Dr. Mohammad Ayub Miah, among others. Dr. Majid emphasized that zakat plays a crucial role in realizing the vision of a society free from discrimination and poverty, and grounded in justice.
He further stated that zakat is a right of the poor over the wealth of the rich, defining it as a social movement that contributes to creating a dignified society by eliminating discrimination. Dr. Majid called on everyone to consciously give zakat to aid in areas such as poverty reduction, education, health, and employment.
The fair will be open to visitors from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, providing a platform for attendees to engage in discussions and activities centered around the effective use of zakat.
