Kathmandu: The CPN (UML) has emphasized the necessity of finding a political resolution to the current crisis through constitutional and democratic measures. Issuing a statement on behalf of the central secretariat of the party, UML’s General Secretary Shanker Pokharel highlighted the importance of adhering to the constitution and democratic practices to navigate the nation’s political challenges.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the UML has urged President Ramchandra Paudel to initiate meaningful dialogue and take a leading role in alignment with the constitutional spirit. The statement called for the constructive involvement of the federal parliament, judiciary, provincial assemblies, provincial governments, and local levels in safeguarding democracy during this critical period.
The UML has appealed to all political parties that support democracy, the republic, peace, and national integrity to engage in reciprocal dialogue. The aim is to build an understanding that protects the country’s constitutional and democratic achievements.
General Secretary Pokharel also addressed the need for security agencies, including the Nepal Army, to curb criminal activities, ensure the security of citizens’ lives, and protect both private and public properties. He demanded a fair investigation into the tragic incident of September 9 and legal action against those found guilty.
Furthermore, he condemned the arson, vandalism, robbery, and other criminal activities that occurred on September 10, urging party members to unite against such anarchic actions and to work towards overcoming these challenges.
