Kathmandu: The ruling CPN (UML) has announced a nationwide awakening campaign in defense of the democratic republic system. UML’s publicity department chief Rajendra Gautam stated that the campaign aims to raise awareness among the people about recent undemocratic activities.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the public awakening program will be launched simultaneously across the country on March 24. The party plans to conduct events for three weeks, including people’s mobilization and rallies in cities such as Dhangadhi, Surkhet, Butwal, Pokhara, Birgunj, and Damak. District-level assemblies are also scheduled to take place in all districts on March 31.
Demonstrations and mass meetings are part of the campaign’s strategy in the aforementioned cities. UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel has instructed party committees to carry out the campaigns effectively. During a virtual meeting, Pokhrel emphasized the importance of educating the public about socio-economic development and other achievements during the democratic period, highlighting the contrast with the Panchayat era.
