UML Urges Government to Take Immediate Action Against Impending Cold Weather.


Kathmandu: The Central Disaster Management and Volunteer Services Department of the CPM (UML) today submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, urging the government to make necessary preparations to safeguard the citizens of Tarai Madhesh and other regions from the approaching cold weather.

According to National News Agency Nepal, a team led by the Chief of the Department, Khimlal Bhattarai, met with Prime Minister Oli at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar. During this meeting, the team submitted a memo emphasizing the urgent need for the government to address the scarcity of warm clothing and firewood, which affects numerous citizens across the country during the winter season.

The memorandum also highlighted the need for state agencies and institutions to enhance security measures for those displaced by recent natural disasters. These disasters include floods that have affected areas such as the Kathmandu Valley and districts like Sindhupalchok, Kavrepa
lanchok, Ramechhap, Dolakha, and Sindhuli.

In response to the memo, Prime Minister Oli assured that it would be promptly forwarded to the relevant agencies through the Ministry of Home Affairs. He stressed the importance of conducting disaster preparedness and post-disaster search and rescue operations in a coordinated manner.
