Utilize Party-Affiliated Foundation for Party Purpose: Chair Oli

Kathmandu: Chairman of the CPN UML and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized that any institution and foundation operating under the party’s banner must prioritize serving the party’s interests and furthering its movement. He made these remarks during a program held to administer the oath of office to the newly elected Chairman of the Madan-Ashrit Memorial Foundation, Pradip Gyawali.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Chairman Oli, who also serves as the patron of the Foundation, expressed his view that foundations and organizations established in the memory of iconic leaders should not be exploited for financial gain. He recalled that the Foundation was created on May 22, 1993, with the purpose of promoting the principles of ‘people’s multi-party democracy’ following the deaths of the Party’s then General Secretary, Madan Bhandari, and the Chief of the Organization Department, Jivraj Ashrit. Oli pointed out that the Foundation and its leadership had previously strayed from their dedication to the party movement.

Chairman Oli stressed the importance of such organizations remaining loyal to the party to prevent involvement in activities that could harm party interests. He also urged the new leadership to focus on areas such as social study, human awareness, and discipline.

UML Deputy General Secretary Pradip Gyawali was elected as the Chairman of the Foundation during its 31st general convention on August 8, following the passing of the former Chairman, Pradip Nepal, on May 6, 2025.
