We Will Remain United on National Issues Says Asif Mahmud

Dhaka: Local Government and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan has asserted that all will remain united on national issues. “There will be positive competition and rivalry in the politics of Bangladesh. . . Despite hundreds of competitions, we will remain united on national issues,” he wrote in a post on his verified Facebook page.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, there will be efforts or debates about who is more advanced in doing people’s welfare, but in the political culture of Bangladesh, there will be no enmity with anyone except fascist forces. The adviser emphasized unity on the issues of sovereignty and dignity of the country against hegemonic forces.

Asif Mahmud remarked that the people of this region have never compromised on dignity from ancient times to the present. He expressed his vision for Bangladesh’s emergence as a self-sufficient Bengal akin to the Middle Ages. “The superpowers will be forced to consider us as an independent entity, and Bangladesh will be a reason of jealousy for its neighbours through its economic and social growth in days to come,” he stated.

For achieving this vision, the adviser stressed the need for consensus on basic principles despite differing opinions. He stated, “Then no external enemies would be able to use us against ourselves.” National interests, he noted, should take precedence over individual or group interests.

Asif Mahmud concluded by sharing his dream of a unified Bangladesh, highlighting the importance of consensus among all anti-fascist forces to build such a nation.
