Jhapa: A wild elephant was found dead in a paddy field at Devigunj in Mechinagar municipality-1, Jhapa. Locals discovered the carcass this morning, prompting a swift response from a team at the Division Forest Office, Jhapa, who have already arrived at the location.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Office Chief Bharat Babu Shrestha confirmed that the deceased elephant is a female. Preparations are currently being made to conduct post-mortem examinations to ascertain the cause of death.
Wildlife conservation activist Shankar Luintel stated that the elephant was approximately 22 years old. It has been reported that a herd of 12 wild elephants entered the region from India last night.
