According to France24.com, the French front pages are all discussing Sébastien Lecornu, the country’s new prime minister. Le Parisien is celebrating the appointment of a “negotiator”. For LOpinion, Lecornu has been parachuted into Matignon. The paper says that the new premier is so close to Macron that he will not be able to draw criticism away from the president. Le Figaro says this is a high-risk mission for Lecornu. Meanwhile, Libérations headline reads “Macron [plays] in defence”. LHumanité says that the “outrageous” nomination of Lecornu as prime minister is another right-wing escalation and will be oil on the flames of this Wednesday’s strike movement.
Aujourdhui en France is discussing those strikes and evoking the uncertainty surrounding the planned protests. Similarly, La Croix talks about the “unknowns of a diverse movement”.
