267 People Arrested for Alleged Involvement in Arson and Vandalism During Protests


Kathmandu: The Nepal Police arrested a total of 267 people for their alleged involvement in looting, vandalism, and arson in Kathmandu district during the Gen-Z protests of September 8 and 9.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the District Police Range, Kathmandu, reported receiving 154 complaints related to vandalism and arson. The police shared that investigations are ongoing for 113 individuals, with 33 released on bail and 43 sent to judicial custody.



The complaints include 22 cases of individual offenses involving arson, vandalism, and other criminal activities, and 66 cases concerning damage to government offices and property. Additionally, 16 cases involve vandalism and arson targeting business enterprises, the Supreme Court, and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority.
