37 Amendment Proposals Demand Changes in Government’s Policies and Programmes

Kathmandu: A total of 37 proposals have been registered in the parliament, demanding amendments to the government’s fresh policies and programmes for the fiscal year 2082-83 BS (2025-26). Speaker Devraj Ghimire shared information about this with a session of the House of Representatives (HoR) today.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the lower house today convened discussions on amendment proposals regarding the government’s policies and programmes that were presented by President Ramchandra Paudel before the joint sitting of the Federal Parliament on May 2. The government has faced criticism for its perceived failure to present clear visions and plans for the upcoming fiscal year, particularly with regards to commitments to inclusion, social justice, and good governance.

During the discussions, a section of lawmakers accused the government of overlooking the need for effective management of resources and proper implementation of federalism. There were also concerns raised about the government’s efforts in preventing corruption and irregularities, highlighting a demand for stronger measures and transparency in governance.
