Strong Collaboration for Technologically Equipped Urbanization: DPM Singh.


Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh remarked that his involvement in the World Urban Forum successfully captured global attention towards addressing the challenges Nepal faces in urbanization. Upon his return from Egypt, where he attended the Forum, DPM Singh addressed media at Tribhuvan International Airport, sharing that the event was instrumental in strengthening international cooperation for Nepal’s urban development initiatives.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Nepal has received support from the international community for its developmental efforts. DPM Singh emphasized the importance of adopting advanced technologies and methodologies in urbanization. He noted that the forum provided Nepal with a platform to showcase its achievements and highlight the challenges it faces in its urbanization endeavors.

DPM Singh took the opportunity to present Nepal’s vulnerability to climate change impacts, such as heavy rainfall, floods, and avalanches, empha
sizing the necessity for green finance to mitigate these risks. He called for sustained support from the United Nations for climate action initiatives in Nepal. “Nepal strongly raised its voice on urbanization issues on the global stage at the World Urban Forum,” Singh stated.

The ministerial-level event, organized by UN-Habitat, took place in Cairo, Egypt, from November 4-8 this year, and saw participation from Urban Ministers representing 77 nations worldwide.
