MUGU: Vehicular movement on the road at Satmod along the Karnali Highway in Mugu district has resumed after being halted for two days due to heavy snowfall. The disruption had left three passenger buses stranded, causing significant inconvenience to travelers heading towards Nepalgunj from the district headquarters, Gamgadi.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Road Division Office’s employees deployed an excavator to clear the accumulated snow and ice, allowing traffic to resume on the Satmod road by noon. The road section serves as a crucial gateway to Dhuchhilake and the buffer zone of Rara National Park. Passengers on the stranded buses, including children, elderly, and sick individuals, spent a grueling night without meals, enduring harsh winter conditions.
Rajyalaxmi Bom, one of the passengers, described the ordeal in a phone conversation with Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), highlighting the lack of rescue efforts. The incident underscored the challenges faced by travelers in the region during severe weather conditions.
