Russian Ambassador Reaffirms Support for Stronger Dhaka-Moscow Ties

Dhaka: Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Khozin has reaffirmed his country’s unwavering commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Bangladesh across all sectors, emphasizing support, cooperation, and partnership. During separate meetings with Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain and Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador discussed key issues of mutual interest and opportunities for collaboration between the two nations.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Ambassador expressed his delight in being in Bangladesh, following his service in other South Asian countries, including India, Nepal, and Pakistan. “I am very impressed to be here in Bangladesh. It is an honour to contribute to fostering relations between our countries,” Khozin said.

The Ambassador highlighted the significance of the Russia-funded Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, which he visited shortly after arriving in Dhaka. “This is absolutely a major project,” he noted. Khozin also underscored other potential areas of cooperation, including food security, agriculture, and shipbuilding. He discussed the possibility of recruiting Bangladeshi workers for employment opportunities in Russia.

Khozin formally began his new assignment in Bangladesh by presenting his credentials to President Mohammed Shahabuddin on December 30, 2024.
