Rizwana Calls for US-Bangladesh Cooperation on Climate Challenges


Dhaka: Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has emphasized the necessity for Bangladesh-US collaboration to tackle climate change challenges during a courtesy visit by US Charge d’Affairs Tracey Ann Jacobson at the Department of Environment (DoE).



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting involved discussions on enhancing mutual cooperation in addressing critical environmental challenges, including environmental protection, renewable energy promotion, and biodiversity conservation. Rizwana reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing innovative and sustainable policies for environmental protection.



The US diplomat assured the adviser of support for Bangladesh’s initiatives in biodiversity protection and renewable energy development. Jacobson praised the government’s efforts to advance the country’s development agenda while addressing environmental issues.



Both parties agreed to maintain dialogue and explore further collaboration opportunities to achieve shared goals for environmental sustainability and resilience. The meeting underscored the strong partnership between Bangladesh and the United States in fostering a greener and more sustainable future.



Environment Secretary and senior officials from the US embassy in Dhaka were present at the meeting.
