Dhaka: Armed Police Battalion (APBn) today recovered 31 bottles of foreign liquor and three kilograms of foreign-made cream from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA). Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations) of the airport’s Armed Police Battalion, Anita Rani Sutradhar, provided this information in the evening.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incident unfolded when an aircraft from Kolkata to Dhaka landed at Shahjalal International Airport at 9:10 am today. Airport officials became suspicious upon noticing two anonymous pieces of luggage on baggage belt number 7.
In the presence of other officials, including representatives of the airlines, two specially trained dogs from the battalion’s dog squad, ‘Die’ and ‘Merino,’ were deployed. The dogs successfully identified the suspicious luggage, leading to the recovery of the contraband items.
However, the owner of the two pieces of luggage could not be identified, leaving the investigation ongoing to determine the source and intended recipient of the illegal goods.
