Bangladesh Chess Team Set to Compete in World Jr. Chess Championship in Serbia


Dhaka: A four-member Bangladesh chess team is set to participate in the World Jr. Chess Championship, scheduled to take place in Serbia next month. The team’s participation marks a significant opportunity for Bangladesh to showcase its young talent on an international stage.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh Chess Federation general secretary Md. Taibur Rahman announced that the federation has submitted the names of four players for registration in the championship. The team includes national champion Monon Reza Neer, national junior champion Sakline Mostafa, FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia from the men’s group, and Wadifa Ahmed from the women’s group.



The championship is slated to occur at the end of February, as per the BCF general secretary. Following their participation in Serbia, the four players, along with the grandmasters, will travel to Sri Lanka. There, they will take part in the Chess World Cup qualifying event, which is scheduled for March.
